Some random pictures

Our little model

The wifey and I. I know I'm lucky.

This is Abby getting tickled by her Aunt Laura and playing with her and Papa Mickey.

Eating cookie dough with Mommy and Doo-dah.

Helping cousin Lizzie to step up with her. We had a great visit from Jen and Lizzie, Papa Mickey, and Julie.

Not sure what she's saying, but it must be important.

And here's a short crappy video from Easter. We need a new video camera, for some reason the quality of our videos lately have been pretty sad.

New Things

Well, this blog thing seems to be pretty popular with people, so I guess it's time we give it a try. Mind you, I've been notoriously terrible at keeping up with these things - my sister once started a blog for us and I might have posted to it once. I don't quite remember. And my myspace account has been unchecked for over a year now. So if this goes just as well, I apologize. I am making an attempt, but we'll see how it goes.

I'm not quite sure how this is supposed to work, so I'll start by saying that Jodi and I both (and Abby perhaps from time to time) will post to this if and when we get the time, and we may even figure out how to put pictures and videos on. That way mass emails to family can stop clogging inboxes and freezing our computer as it feebly tries to remember 100 things at once.

A bit about us for you people who for some reason enjoy browsing stranger's blogs: I am Robby, my wife is Jodi, and our daughter is Abby. That about catches you up.

To our family and *ahem* friends: sorry things have been pretty distant these past several months. What with Jodi finishing nursing school and our schedules being so crazy, it hasn't left much time for us, let alone everyone else. The only thing I can say about it is: get used to it. Graduation is coming, followed by us having to find a place to live in Richmond, then moving sometime in June, Jodi's job starting at the end of June, and then med school starting in August. So things will not be slowing down for us. Which is probably a good thing, because once things slow down I tend to get distracted easily by pretty much everything. And then I don't get anything done. Like right now I was looking at housing and randomly thought, "I should start a blog!" Finding a place to live is pretty important, but this sounded more fun. So obviously it was an easy choice. Meanwhile poor Jodi is cramming her head full of incredibly important nursing info for her finals that she will regurgitate onto the test and then promptly forget. Knowing how to write a care plan is essential for success in nursing school and almost non-existent as a nurse. Makes a lot of sense.

Abby is getting really big now and starting to talk all of the time. Sadly, there are few who understand her. She is getting better at vocalizing all of her desires, but hasn't yet gotten the whole pronunciation thing down. But it's coming along. Like the other week at church when I forgot her apple juice at home and she kept saying "where my apple juice" over and over for all to hear until everyone around us was looking and laughing as I had to explain that I forgot it.

Abby and I were out walking the other day and were taking turns chasing each other. Suddenly out of nowhere, I heard this blood curdling scream behind me. If any parent has ever heard their child scream as though their limbs were being ripped off, you know the feeling that shot through me. As I spun and looked, though, I saw that arms and legs were still firmly attached. There was, however, something wrong with her left arm that had her terrified: a small spider, about the size of this period here --> . <-- had settled on her arm. You'd think the world had ended. Though I felt sorry for her and knew her fear to be understandable, I couldn't help but chuckle a bit. At home she told Jodi of the traumatic experience. "Mama, the spider catched me" "Oh my goodness Abby, what did he want to do?" "Mama, spider want to bite me, Abby." She is now deathly afraid of all insects.

I will attempt to attach some pictures to this - Google has a track record of making things easy to do so perhaps I will be successful. So maybe we'll get some stuff on here, and who knows? Maybe we'll even start to get some friends. If I can figure out how to get it all on the blog page.
